Return to Ice Kingdom is the twenty-third and penultimate quest in the main story of Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion. After Torcho heats up the Fire Kingdom Core, Flame Princess suggests that the heroes head back to where the whole adventure started to see if they can find Fern and whoever he's working with.

Once they arrive at the Ice Kingdom, the heroes find Ice King hard at work re-freezing his kingdom. Fern is nowhere to be seen and the Ice King doesn't have a clue who he's working with until they mention the Enchiridion. Suddenly Ice King remembers that some guy returned his crown the day before the melting business started - Princess Bubblegum's great uncle, Gumbald. As the heroes lament not being able to figure the connection out earlier, Gumbald appears, accompanied by his candy relatives, Chicle and Lolly, and Fern, the Green Knight. Gumbald explains that flooding Ooo was part of a long drawn out plan to frame Princess Bubblegum so he could take over the Candy Kingdom. When the heroes complain that they never even considered PB as a possible suspect, Chicle admits he dropped the ball on framing her. Gumbald says it doesn't matter because with his copy of the Enchiridion, he still has enough science to donk up Ooo permanently, but the heroes say he'll have to go through the five of them first. Until Ice King nopes out of there. Fern goes chasing after Ice King (and fails miserably), while Gumbald engages the remaining four heroes in one last epic battle.

The Gumbald battle is the toughest so far. Not only does he have over 9,000 hp (10k to be exact), but he's level 10 and starts by summoning 2 level 6 Pirate Banana Guards, and can change up his attacks with Blaster Calibration, making defending against him difficult. The key here is to attack - hit hard and hit often. Use Rotten Fish or Used Tissues to increase his chance of being bunked, and hit him with Ice attacks to slow him down and try to make the guards fall asleep rather than kill them, as he can just summon more. This is a long slog, so expect lots of healing, defending and energy boosting to use special attacks.

Once Gumbald has been defeated, BMO discovers a map in the Enchiridion that leads to a drain plug that can fix this flood once and for all, ending this quest, and starting the final quest.
